As we progress swiftly from Spring to Summer, the 2013-2014 shipping season has come to an end. After a beautiful bloom in March, tiny green globes have burst forth on the trees, a new season's promise. As the fruit flourishes in the moist Florida sunshine we'll be pampering the groves, preparing the packing house and planning for the start of another season sharing our grove fresh Florida oranges and grapefruit with citrus lovers across North America.
Florida citrus is a berry and it does not ripen off the tree or bush. As with strawberries or blueberries, once the fruit is picked, the sugars gradually break down and the fruit loses its full sweetness and flavor. That's why fresh is best.
At Florida Fruit Shippers® we never ship Florida citrus from storage. And unlike oranges and grapefruit sold at retail, our Florida citrus is never artificially colored, dyed or flavored. That's why we can say, "Unless you live in a grove, you can't eat fresher, sweeter fruit."
